<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The
Pharaoh’s Cat, a tragicomic fantasy narrated in the present tense by the cat
himself, tells of a free-spirited, wise-cracking stray in ancient Egypt who
suddenly acquires human powers and immediately captivates the young Pharaoh,
making him laugh for the first time since his parents’ death.<br />
<br />
The cat becomes the Pharaoh’s constant companion and, at the royal palace
and on a tour of Egypt, participates in the festivities, developing an
insatiable appetite for good food, wine, and gossip. Gradually, he renews the
Pharaoh’s ability to enjoy life and inspires him to become a stronger leader.
The bond of selfless love they share will change Egypt’s destiny.<br />
<br />
The cat has a good friend in the High Priest of the god Amun-Ra and seeks
his help in solving the mystery of his human powers and the supernatural
manifestations that plague him. He has a mortal enemy in the Vizier—the second
most powerful man in Egypt--who hates him for his close relationship with the
Pharaoh. The Vizier’s persecution of the cat ultimately results in his fleeing
with the High Priest to present-day New York City, where they find an ally in
an Egyptologist’s daughter.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Ancient
Egypt has always fascinated me in many ways, the way that the pharaoh’s ruled,
how they build pyramids, the gods they worshipped… their whole culture is just
so intriguing. So when Maria Luisa Lang approached me with the question to read
her book I immediately said yes. And I am glad that I did because I got so much
more than I expected!<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The Pharaoh’s
cat tells the adventures of a cat in ancient Egypt through the eyes of a cat. It
might sound a bit odd but it was really great story and refreshing as well. It is
not every day that you read a book through the eyes of a cat. From the very
start I fell in love with Wrappa-Hamen, he really behaves like most cats I know.
He’s lazy and basically only thinks about his next meal, but somehow his little
adventures always turn into a big mess which was often quite hilarious. What I really
loved that Wrappa-Hamen’s thoughts were exactly what I always imagined my cat
to think. I do not know how the author managed to get the cats character so
spot on but I imagine that she must have studied her own cat for a long while. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I really
loved the way how the author decided to tell the story of some big events in
Egypt. She managed to weave in the ancient Egyptian culture in her book in a
way that it made it light and easy to understand. I cannot tell how accurate all the events
where in this book but I am sure that some of them are based on reality. And it
wonderful that the author also gave descriptions of how the temples and the
houses looked like. I definitely picked up some new things by reading this
book. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

of this book, it was interesting and refreshing. I cannot wait to read more of
Wrappa-Hamen’s adventures. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">“He had committed many mistakes in his life, he had failed in many aspects, but he wanted to be a good father, and the best thing for his kids was to be close to their mother, even if this meant he had to spend the life with someone so futile like Marta.”</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<i><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Gustavo is a competitive person, even with their friends:</span></i><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">“Everybody turned to Gustavo waiting for a serious answer, without jokes, everybody knew he was calculating, practical and very logical. Gustavo, in turn, was sometimes rather competitive and knew that if he exposed his theory, they would want to do the same and this could lower his percentages of survival. At this very moment, he hated himself for thinking in such a selfish and competitive way with his old friends and that he probably would not see them again.”</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<i><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">When the object parked on the moon, he got obsessed with the list:</span></i><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">“The creation of the list had brought some adrenaline to his life, some hope in something new, in some sort of change. And now, there he was in one of his favorite places and he was thinking that he had failed, that the poor emotion he had for life had led him to the exaggeration of spending too much money, putting at risk his working place, and even worse, putting in risk his freedom after an unnecessary robbery.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">While he was immersed in these thoughts, he saw his father open the old gated of the property and approach him. Gustavo sighed and thought that he would now have to hear his old father give him a moral lesson about life; accept your mistakes and don't fly into paranoia or exaggerations. That was exactly what he did not want right now, he had come to that place to be alone and now he would hear his father in a speech about common sense.”</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<i><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Gustavo’s strongest aspects are probably his faster adaptable to a new situation, and he is a planner:</span></i><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">“Gustavo laughed again, he looked down with an amused look and saw the great hate that emanated from The Fatty.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">- Do you know why it came down to this?<i> </i>You on your knees and me standing and observing your village in flames? Because you’re the weakest link. You know, you fatty, in the animal world, the ones who adapt the better to the environmental conditions are the ones who survive, and just between you and me, we both have the best example of it. You, who still think you are the GNR commander and that someone will come from the past to make me pay for my deeds. While I have quickly adapted to the new reality: as soon as the craft landed on The Moon, I made a list of indispensable things, I spent a lot of money in this list, I robbed a drugstore and was considered to be crazy by my family, but when the attack occurred, this crazy one was the one who had adapted the best to the new environment. And, let me tell you: I longed for this attack; I was fed up with living my comfortable and gray life behind a computer.”</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<i><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Gustavo’s weakness it’s probably his inability to improvise:</span></i><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">“Gustavo remained quiet, feeling uncomfortable that Ramiro was better prepared than he was. He would've liked to have had a few minutes to think about some excuses, but he remained still, with no excuses, awaiting another wave of accusations and with some fear of what would come. Ramiro continued:”</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<b><i><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Q: The novel it’s a dystopian or an utopian?</span></i></b><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">A: <i>I think dystopian and utopian came along, and depends on the perspective of the reader. When the book was released in the Portuguese market, some said: it’s a post-apocalyptic novel, others a dystopian and either another’s claims it was a utopian. For Gustavo and his friends are a utopian, because they try to build a better society. Gustavo speaking:</i></span><br />
<i><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></i>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">“- I don’t do this for the power, Ramiro, I do this for our children, so that the future generation doesn't have to live in an unequal, corrupt and unprincipled society. I don’t want to be in power forever, I’m in favor of creating a law that one will only be able to be in public positions no more than eight years; after which, no privileges or special treatment are reward so that they have to go back to their work. Politics will be seen as a contribution to society and not as an opportunity to get rich and find well-paid state jobs for your friends. I do this so that your daughters and my children only hear about Swiss banks, tax havens and stock exchanges, like Wall Street, as things of a dark and greedy past from a lost society. I won’t allow you and your friends to change my view of the future.”</span><br />

Spring, 2010. When Luna Ward, a science journalist from New York, travels
halfway across the world to work undercover at an alternative health clinic in
Cadiz, her ordered life is thrown into turmoil.<br />
<br />
The doctor she is to investigate, the controversial Rodrigo Rueda de
Calderon, is not what she expected. With his wild gypsy looks and devilish
sense of humour, he is intent upon drawing her to him. But how can she
surrender to a passion that threatens all reason; and how could he ever learn
to trust her when he discovers her true identity? Then Luna finds that Ruy is
carrying a corrosive secret of his own…<br />
<br />
Luna’s native Spanish blood begins to fire in this land of exotic legends,
flamboyant gypsies and seductive flamenco guitars, as dazzling Cadiz weaves its
own magic on her heart. Can Luna and Ruy’s love survive their families’ legacy
of feuding and tragedy, and rise like the phoenix from the ashes of the past?<br />

Legacy is a story of truth, dreams and desire. But in a world of secrets

<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">In a lot of
ways <i>Legacy</i> was quite similar to
Fielding’s other books. The two main characters meet, they are instantly
attracted towards each other and they want to get to know one another but
obstacles are continuously thrown on their path which makes their love seem
doomed. And that is probably one of the biggest issues I had with this book. I
loved it in the first book, thought it was okay in the second one but by this
one it had become pretty repetitive. Especially since you already know how
things will end in the end, there are no surprises left. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

that I did still enjoy this book, especially since it explores alternative
health care. I do not know much about the subject so it was interesting to
learn a bit more about it while reading this book. Another thing that I liked
about it was the rich description of everything. Fielding always has the habit
of doing that. And this time I enjoyed it even more since I had recently been
to that region of Spain so it felt like I was revisiting certain memories. The
author always just gives so many details and wonderful description that it
feels like you are transported to that very place in that moment. And it is one
of the things that I enjoyed the most about this book.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

everything changes. An investigation into the strange disappearance of their

are desperate to escape the coming of a shade lord. To survive their adventure,
Naomi and Gavin must settle their differences and find the elusive shadow gate

with their parent’s decision. They grew up on other sides of the country and
Naomi already thought it was bad enough that she had to spend time with her little
brother every summer but now she will literally have no escape from him all
summer long. And to make things worse their great-grandmother went a bit crazy
after her husband disappeared according to their father. But what they find during their stay with

as fascinated as Naomi and Gavin with their great-grandfather’s tales of a

seat throughout the entire story. The author did create a magical world filled
with incredible creatures that I could have never imagined. The entire book was
just one big adventure, the siblings constantly ran into trouble while trying
to navigate the new world they ended up in. There were some fights, a battle
and a lot of other events that created suspense. The world that the author had
created was surrounded by darkness but at the same time I could also see the beauty
in it. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

were also fun to read about. At times Gavin sounded a lot older than twelve and
seemed more mature in a lot of ways than his sister Naomi. But I just loves seeing
how much they cared about each other and how they grew closer throughout the
story. The other characters they came
across during their journey were also interesting and I am really hoping that
we get to see some of them again in the next book. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

A laugh-out-loud, heartfelt YA romantic comedy, told in
alternating perspectives, about two Indian-American teens whose parents have
arranged for them to be married.<br />
<br />
Dimple Shah has it all figured out. With graduation behind her, she’s more
than ready for a break from her family, from Mamma’s inexplicable obsession
with her finding the “Ideal Indian Husband.” Ugh. Dimple knows they must
respect her principles on some level, though. If they truly believed she needed
a husband right now, they wouldn’t have paid for her to attend a summer program
for aspiring web developers…right?<br />
<br />
Rishi Patel is a hopeless romantic. So when his parents tell him that his
future wife will be attending the same summer program as him—wherein he’ll have
to woo her—he’s totally on board. Because as silly as it sounds to most people
in his life, Rishi wants to be arranged, believes in the power of tradition,
stability, and being a part of something much bigger than himself.<br />
<br />
The Shahs and Patels didn’t mean to start turning the wheels on this
“suggested arrangement” so early in their children’s lives, but when they
noticed them both gravitate toward the same summer program, they figured, Why
not?<br />
<br />
Dimple and Rishi may think they have each other figured out. But when
opposites clash, love works hard to prove itself in the most unexpected ways.<o:p></o:p></div>

growing up in the funeral home her family runs, Gabriella knows that death is a
part of life and nothing is forever. Yet Bree, her best friend, has been a
constant; it's always been the two of them together against the world. But when
Bree starts dating a guy the worst guy from the ultra-popular world, suddenly
she doesn't have time for Gabe anymore. Now the only one at school who wants to
spend time with "Graveyard Gabe" is Hartman, the new guy, but Gabe,
not wanting to lose her mind over a boyfriend the way Bree has, holds back. It
takes a very strange prom night (with the family hearse instead of a limo) for
Gabe to truly fall for Hartman. But when she leaves the after-prom party with
him, she's not there for Bree or for the deadly accident that happens that
night. Bree survives, but will she and Gabe ever be able to rebuild their

<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So far I
have read a couple of books by Jolene Perry and they have always either been a
hit or miss for me. I am glad to say that <i>All
the Forever Things</i> was a hit. I truly enjoyed reading this book from the
first until the very last page. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">One of the
things that I enjoyed the most about this book that it explored the meaning of
death. It is something that people do not talk about often mainly because it is
a hard topic. But sadly enough it is also a part of life so I believe that it
should be addressed more. And I think she did a pretty good job of addressing
it. Gabe grew up in a funeral home, so she is around dead all the time. For her
it is part of everyday life so she does not get why people get so upset over it
since everyone knows that it will happen eventually. The least you could say is
that she had a complex relationship with death. In some ways she got really
detached from her emotions because she needed to do that to survive or at least

enjoyed Gabe as a character, she might come across to some people as selfish
but I did not see her like that at all. What I saw was a girl that did not have
a lot of friends and tried to keep the one friend she really had close to her.
And yes when that friend was slipping away from her she made some wrong
decisions but overall I think she did her best to please everyone. Bree on the other
hand I found to be selfish, they had been best friends for years but then a boy
enters the picture and she basically tosses her friend to the side. I really
hate it when people do that because in the end they always come crawling back. Another
character that I did enjoy was Hartman, he really complemented Gabe well. He made
her see again that it is okay to feel things and that she should really live
her life. And for that alone I already liked him.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

proved again to me that she can address a heavy topic in a way that does not
make it too depressing and sad. </span><o:p></o:p></span></div>

<br />
All of Maggie’s focus and free time is spent swimming. She’s not only
striving to earn scholarships—she’s training to qualify for the Olympics. It
helps that her best friend, Levi, is also on the team and cheers her on. But
Levi’s already earned an Olympic try out, so she feels even more pressure to
succeed. And it’s not until Maggie’s away on a college visit that she realizes
how much of the “typical” high school experience she’s missed by being in the
pool.<br />
<br />
Not one to shy away from a challenge, Maggie decides to squeeze the most
out of her senior year. First up? Making out with a guy. And Levi could be the
perfect candidate. After all, they already spend a lot of time together. But as
Maggie slowly starts to uncover new feelings for Levi, how much is she willing
to lose to win?</span><br />

Flora Banks has no short-term memory. Her mind resets itself several times a
day, and has since the age of ten, when the tumor that was removed from Flora's
brain took with it her ability to make new memories. That is, until she kisses
Drake, her best friend's boyfriend, the night before he leaves town.
Miraculously, this one memory breaks through Flora's fractured mind, and
sticks. Flora is convinced that Drake is responsible for restoring her memory
and making her whole again. So when an encouraging email from Drake suggests
she meet him on the other side of the world, Flora knows with certainty that
this is the first step toward reclaiming her life.<br />
<br />
With little more than the words "be brave" inked into her skin, and
written reminders of who she is and why her memory is so limited, Flora sets
off on an impossible journey to Svalbard, Norway, the land of the midnight sun,
determined to find Drake. But from the moment she arrives in the arctic,
nothing is quite as it seems, and Flora must "be brave" if she is
ever to learn the truth about herself, and to make it safely home.</span> <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I read <i>The One Memory of Flora Banks</i> right
after I had finished another book that dealt with memory loss. Maybe I should
not have done that since now I could not help stop myself comparing both books
even though they dealt with two completely different types of memory loss. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I have to
say I don’t think I have read a book before that is similar to this one. Flora
suffers from amnesia and a couple of times a day her mind resets itself. Therefore
she still sees herself as a young child since those are the last real memories
she has. But then one day she kisses a boy and she remembers. And this moment
is a start of an adventure for Flora. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">There were
a couple of things about this book that I did not like that much about this
book. One of the things was that it was pretty repetitive a lot of the time. I get
that the main character suffered from amnesia but some parts of the book were a
copy and paste of events that had happened before. Not even a word had changed
and that is something that I could not deal with. I do understand that somethings had to be
repeated since Flora forgot everything but the author could have done it in a
more adventurous way I guess. Another reason why this book was not really for
me was because I just could not wrap my head around it that a kiss from the boy
is the only thing she remembered in years and that after that happened nothing
else changed in regards to her mental health. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">One of the
only things that I truly enjoyed about this book was the adventure. Flora
embarked on an adventure that took her to some really wonderful places. And the
people she met along the way were fun enough to read about. But I think I would
have enjoyed it more if her adventure had not been all about finding the boy
she kissed. I believe that this book could have done so much better if it hadn’t
centered so much around romance.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

this book was just not for me. I can see why some people enjoy it but for me it

like amnesia should not be unrealistic in my opinion. </span><o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><b>The highly
anticipated sequel to Positively Mine….</b><br />
<br />
Picking up from the dramatic ending of Positively Mine, Yours
and Mine continues the Freshman Forty series as we meet Danny Santoro,
Laurel’s baby’s father, for the first time.<br />
<br />
It’s been almost a year since he last saw her, that sultry morning she
walked off the beach before dawn had even cracked the August sky. It seemed from
her silence, she was out of his life forever.<br />
<br />
But Laurel’s timing couldn’t be worse to tell him he’s a father. The last
year hasn’t been easy. Danny’s own father was arrested for a DUI, his mother
moved out, and Danny started sleeping with his brother’s old high school,
drug-abusing girlfriend.<br />
<br />
After Laurel shocks him with the news, she attempts to relinquish Danny of
any parental responsibility leading to a heated custody battle. In an
unorthodox arrangement, an eccentric judge orders Danny and Laurel to spend
alternating nights with each other for the upcoming school year.<br />
<br />
Told from Danny’s point of view, Yours and Mine explores
the second chapter of a romance that never got off the ground, the challenges
of young parenting, and the hope of rekindled love.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">A couple of
years ago I first read <i>Positively Mine</i>
and I absolutely loved that book. Laurel is such a great character to read
about so I was thrilled to find out that the sequel would finally be released. <i><o:p></o:p></i></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><i><span lang="EN-US">Yours and Mine</span></i><span lang="EN-US"> picked up right were <i>Positively Mine </i>left off, but this time the story was told from Danny’s
point of view. Laurel hid her pregnancy from everyone, including from Danny the
baby’s father. So when she drops the bomb on him that he has a three year old
daughter well it is a lot to take in. But I was surprised at how well he took
it all in. During the first book Laurel always made him sound like a complete
jackass so that is also what I expected him to be. But I could not be more
wrong. Of course he is not perfect but he is a really good guy actually. He cares
for his family and would do anything for them. So now that also includes his
little baby girl. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Both Laurel
and Danny are trying to adjust to their new life as a parent. It definitely
does not help that they live hundreds of miles away from each other and that
they are both attending university and working. And it definitely does not help.
And at first Laurel is not willing to compromise much but after the court arranges
the custodial rights for both they have no other option than to spend time in
each other company. Through the struggles they face the reality of what co-parenting
entails. Slowly they start to learn how to be around each other again. And I
love how they started to bond as characters again slowly. I am glad that the
author did not rush their relationship in any way. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">At times I
had some troubles with Laurel in this book. I really liked her in the first
book but at times she really came across a spoiled child in this book. Especially
at the beginning when she did not want to compromise. She clearly was not
thinking about her child best interests but in her own interests. And at that
moment Danny just did not fit in her life. But I am glad that she turned around
during the book and became more mature. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Overall I
really enjoyed this book. I loved that the story continued right where it had
left of, otherwise it would not have felt right. The book was fairly short and
fast paced which made it really quick to read and that was exactly what I was
looking for. Although I would have preferred it if the conclusion of the book
had been a bit longer I still enjoyed it well enough. I cannot wait to read
more books by Christine Duval.</span><br />

me that my memory will never be the same, that I'll start forgetting things. At
first just a little, and then a lot. So I'm writing to remember.” </b><br />
<br />
Samantha McCoy has it all mapped out. First she's going to win the national
debating championship, then she's going to move to New York and become a human
rights lawyer. But when Sammie discovers that a rare disease is going to take
away her memory, the future she'd planned so perfectly is derailed before it’s
started. What she needs is a new plan.<br />
<br />
So the Memory Book is born: Sammie’s notes to her future self, a document of
moments great and small. Realising that her life won't wait to be lived, she
sets out on a summer of firsts: The first party; The first rebellion; The first
friendship; The last love.<br />
<br />
Through a mix of heartfelt journal entries, mementos, and guest posts from
friends and family, readers will fall in love with Sammie, a brave and
remarkable girl who learns to live and love life fully, even though it's not
the life she planned.</span></span></div>

<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Sammie has
recently been diagnosed with Niemann-Pick type C, this disease makes that young
children will suffer from progressive dementia. Sammie had her whole life
planned out, she studied hard during high school so that she could get into the
university she wanted and eventually become a lawyer. But the disease slowly
takes all her dreams away and Sammie has to learn to live with her new reality.
That’s where the memory book comes in. In order to remember what happened every
day and what is happening to her she creates a book that contains her memories
from that day. And she does not leave anything out it is fragments of good and
bad things and sometimes really sad things. The concept of the book was really
nice, reading fragments of her life. I do not think I have read anything
similar before. And I think that writing
the book in this way makes the story also seem more real. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">It is
really easy to like and connect with Sammie. By reading her memories you sort
off become a part of her. It was also wonderful to see how strong Sammie was as
a character. She does not want to let the disease determine her life. She wants
to live her life on her own terms. Sammie also made so much progression
throughout the book. During high school she was always so focused on school
work that she never really took the time to connect with her fellow student. But
her disease forced her to see some things differently in her life. I was really
moved by Sammie’s story; it is hard to see how she is trying to balance her
life between what is realistic and her original life goals. I also think that
the author did an excellent job at portraying how dementia also affects the
people that are close to the patient. The author captured the sadness, helplessness
and anger very well. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

book also hit really close to home, my grandma has dementia so I feel the struggle
that Sammie’s family has to go through as well. But oh boy I was not prepared
for the ending. It left me absolutely shattered, but at the same time this book
could not have a more beautiful ending. My favorite read of the year so far!<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

year-old Britta Flannery is at ease only in the woods with her dagger and bow.
She spends her days tracking criminals alongside her father, the legendary
bounty hunter for the King of Malam—that is, until her father is murdered. Now
outcast and alone and having no rights to her father’s land or inheritance, she
seeks refuge where she feels most safe: the Ever Woods. When Britta is caught

her freedom in exchange for her father’s killer.<br />

However, it’s not so simple.<br />

The alleged killer is none other than Cohen McKay, her father’s former
apprentice. The only friend she’s ever known. The boy she once loved who broke
her heart. She must go on a dangerous quest in a world of warring kingdoms, mad
kings, and dark magic to find the real killer. But Britta wields more power
than she knows. And soon she will learn what has always made her different will

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">When <i>Ever the Hunted</i> was first released I was
really excited to read it. It sounded so promising. A young girl that gets a
choice die for a crime she committed or hunt down her father’s killer. The
choice seems easy but it might not be so easy when his killer was his former
apprentice and your best friend. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The first
couple of chapters of this book I really enjoyed. We got to know the main character
Britta, and her back ground story. There was enough action to keep me intrigued
to see what was going to happen. And at first Britta came across as a strong
character, her life was never easy and it only got harder after her father
passed away. But she tried to make the best of it anyway. So that is what I liked
so much about her. It seemed like she changed after a while though. Once she
set out on her quest she turned into a completely different girl. Suddenly she
was weepy, easily persuaded and she could not stand up for herself. She did
redeem herself a bit near the end so I hope that she will turn into a strong,
independent, young woman again. It is probably one of the main reasons why this
book fell short for me. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Like I mentioned
earlier at the beginning there was a lot of action. Something that I expect in
a fantasy book; especially when the main character is hunting down a killer. But
here as well, after a couple of chapters the action seemed to have stopped. Still
there were still some good scenes here and there but not as much as I would
have liked. This all changes again near the ending, for which I am glad. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The world
building itself was alright, the concept of two countries that are at war is
often used in fantasy books but that did not bother me. And I found in
interesting to see how different those countries were culturally. What intrigued
me the most was the magical part. It wished that it was explained more in this
book. But I also get why the author did not go into too much detail about it in
this book. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Overall I
enjoyed this book but it was lacking in some points. It started of good but
then the middle just really slowed down. The ending redeemed this book so I am
curious to see how the series will continue.</span> <o:p></o:p></span></div>

be afraid when they are outside alone. I really did not see the point of this whole

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Mortals rule the desert nation of Miraji, but mythical beasts still roam the wild and remote areas, and rumor has it that somewhere, djinn still perform their magic. For humans, it's can unforgiving place, especially if you're poor, orphaned, or female. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Amani Al'Hiza is all three. She's a gifted gunslinger with perfect aim, but she can't shoot her way out of Dustwalk, the back-country town where she's destined to wind up wed or dead. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Then she meets Jin, a rakish foreigner, in a shooting contest, and sees him as the perfect escape route. But though she's spent years dreaming of leaving Dustwalk, she never imagined she'd gallop away on a mythical horse - or that it would take a foreign fugitive to show her the heart of the desert she thought she knew.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><i>Rebel of the Sands</i> reveals what happens when a dream deferred explodes - in the fires of rebellion, of romantic passion, and the all-consuming inferno of a girl finally, at long last, embracing her power.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><i><span lang="EN-US">Rebel of the Sands</span></i><span lang="EN-US"> is set in a fantasy world with a lot of Middle

this book. When it comes to Middle Eastern influenced books I really cannot
resist. And if you add some fantasy elements into it like spirits, djinni’s and
ghouls well then I am completely sold. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Amani is a
pretty great character to read about. I did get annoyed with her at some
points, mostly because she was really selfish at some points. Actually she is
probably one of the most selfish characters that I have ever read about. She
always thought of what she wanted in life and she did not really care about how
she got there even if it did put people in harm’s way. But at the same time I also
liked her, yes she was selfish but by the end of the book she redeemed herself.
And I liked that she was so sassy all the time. Jin is something different all
together. I liked him from the start but I also knew that something had to be
wrong with him since it was all too good to be true. And he did have his secrets but I guess he had
his reasons for. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<span lang="EN-US"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">There were
other things that I loved about this book as well. Like I mentioned before the
setting of this book is just great. Fantasy books are always a bit hard, a lot
of the time the author gives too many details of this new world or they give to
little information instead which leaves you confused. But <i>Rebel of the Sands</i> seems to have found the perfect combination.<o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

really enjoyed this book. It was one of those books that was pretty hard to put
down. There was so much action it in, which kept me on the edge of my seat. The
world building was great and in general the characters were fun to read about
too. I really cannot wait to read the next book in this series. <o:p></o:p></span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Midnight Jewel</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">In the second installment of the bestselling Glittering Court series, Richelle Mead goes beyond the glitz and glamour, delving into the dark, political underbelly of their world through the eyes of one girl who dares to fight for her freedom.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">A refugee of war, Mira was cast out of her home country and thrust into another, where the conditions were inhospitable at best. In a life-altering twist of fate, she is given the chance to escape once more, and she takes it, joining the Glittering Court.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">For a select group of girls, the Glittering Court offers a shot at a life they've only ever dreamed of, one of luxury, glamour, and leisure. But for Mira, it means further persecution, not only from her fellow Glittering Court jewels, but from her suitors, as well - men she would potentially be expected to give her life to. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">By day, she goes through the motions, learning the etiquette and customs that will help her to earn her anonymity, even making a couple true friends in the process, the fortnight ladies' maid Adelaide and the ambitious laundress Tamsin. But by night, Mira hatches a different plan entirely - one that, if exposed could get her hanged in the highest court of Adoria. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><i>Midnight Jewel </i>is the extraordinary story of a girl with few options who courageously forges a new path, finding love, passion, lifelong friendships, and maybe even a way to freedom.</span><br />
