Review: This Much Is True by Katherine Owen + Giveaway

Synopsis
Fate brings them together
Fame & lies keep them apart
One truth remains...

18334339She's become the Paly High girl with the most tragic story...
At 17, Tally Landon just wants to graduate and leave for New York to pursue ballet. Her best friend Marla convinces her to attend one last party - a college party - where she can be among strangers and evade the whispering about her heartbreaking loss of her twin that follows her everywhere she goes.  She meets Lincoln Presley, Stanford's famous baseball wonder and has a little fun at his expense - when she lies about her age and who she really is - intent on being someone else for the night and escaping her tragic story.

His only focus in baseball, but he can't forget the girl he saved on Valentine's Day...
At 22, Lincoln Presly's star is on the rise - about to finish at Stanford and expected to be taken early in Major League Baseball's upcoming draft - his cousin's party serves as a welcome distraction. But then, he sees the girl from Valentine's Day that he saved from that horrific car accident and can't quite hide his disappointment when she appears to look right through him and not remember him at all. He vows to learn her name at least before he leaves. What's the harm in getting to know this girl? What's the worst that can happen?

They share this incredible connection, but fate soon tests these star-crossed lovers in all kinds of ways...
And yet, despite the lies being told to protect the other, and the trappings of fame that continually seperate them, and in lieu of the deception by those they've come to trust the most; one truth remains.

This much is true.

Opinion
This book turned to be a lot different than I expected it to be in a good way. I expected it to be like so many books out there, troubled girl meets troubled girl, they fall for each other, the fight and break up after a while they make up because they realize that they still love each other and can’t live without each other. In some aspects that was true for this book, but at the same time it was so much more.

Tally meets Lincoln a few months after she has lost her twin sister in a tragic car accident. She lies to him about everything, but Linc is not a saint either when it comes to the truth. But from the moment they met they have these amazing connection but Tally is still a mess and tries to push every one away afraid that she’ll be hurt again. The only thing that matters to her is ballet. Linc is a rising baseball player and he can’t afford to be portrayed in the press badly. Fame keeps them apart, but they can’t let each other go. But the lies keep building up between them and it seems almost impossible for them to ever have a happy ending with one another. So they try to move on, live their lives far away from each other. Linc traveling to play baseball competitions and Tally as the star of the NYC ballet company is travelling through Europe.
Sometimes months, even years pass between two meetings of them. But every time they are together there connection is visible. If only they knew how to communicate with one another instead of trying to keep some things hidden from each other.  After all the truth always catch up.
This book took me on an emotional ride and it was almost impossible for me to put it down. I loved how the characters developed throughout the book. Tally started as a seventeen year old with a lot of baggage already and at the end she’s this beautiful 21-year-old woman who finally knows what she wants in live. The same is for Linc, he knows wants what he wants in his live and he’s determined to never lose it out of his sight again.  The book was rather long but I loved reading it every single moment and I’m glad that the author didn’t cut in half, which she could have easily done.
Definitely a NA book that I will read again, it was what a NA book should be about. Finding yourself, when it’s almost impossible to see any happiness in your life. I would highly recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a great NA/YA read!
