Top Ten Tuesday #5

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Broke and Bookish. This weeks is : Top Ten Words/Topics That Make Me NOT Pick Up A Book:

Crime books: I’ve tried a couple of detective books, but it’s just not for me. Mostly I can’t relate to the characters and the whole mystery is mostly boring.

Graphic novels: When I read a book I want to imagine my own world, characters… and in a graphic novel there’s just too little information. But I like comic books.

Biographies: If I want to know something about a person I’ll just Google it. But to read a whole novella about one person, no but thanks.

Insta-love: It’s impossible to fall in love in just a couple of days. You might be attracted to someone. But lust and love are two very different things.

Non-fiction: It’s just not my thing. I want to lose myself in a world that doesn’t exist.

Erotica: I read Fifty shades and no thanks never again! I really can’t believe that these books sell so well.

Hyped books: If a book is a real hype at the moment I don’t pick it up most of the time. Maybe I read it later, when the whole hype thing is over.

Horror: I’ve a pretty weak stomach and a good imaginations, so these books just freak me out.

The next…: Every book/author is unique, so why should you call it the next? And a good author should be able to make a name for himself.

Fan fiction: If you want to write a book why not use your own imagination instead of using someone else’s?

  1. Yes, hyped books. Annoying. Any time I can see the man behind the curtain....

But nonfiction? There are some masterpieces of nonfiction that I'd urge you to try, nonfiction that anyone would love. Creative nonfiction, not textbooks. I need to do a post about it one day.

    Here's my Top Ten list.

  2. I'm with you on ALL of those, except erotica. I love me some smut from time to time as long as it's done well (as in, it must have a PLOT).

  3. Biographies aren't really my thing either. And yeah, Google does exist for a reason.
Non-fiction isn't really my thing either.
