Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine. It spotlights books that have not yet been released, but ones that you should pre-order today! This week's book that I am anxiously awaiting is:
I Was Here
by Gayle Forman
Cod and Meg were inseparable.
Two peas in a pod.
Until...they weren't anymore.
When her best friend Meg drinks a bottle of industrial-strength cleaner alone in a motel room, Cody is understandably shocked and devastated. She and Meg shared everything - so how was there no warning? But when Cody travels to Meg's college to pack up the belongings she left behind, she discovers that there's a lot that Meg never told her. About her old roommates, the sort of people Cody never would have met in her dead-end small town in Washington. About Ben McAllister, the boy with a guitar and a sneer, who broke Meg's heart. And about an encrypted computer file that Cody can't open - until she does, and suddenly everything Cody thought she knew about her best friend's death gets thrown into question.
I Was Here is Gayle Forman at her finest, a taut, emotional, and ultimately redemptive story about redefining the meaning of family and finding a way to move forward even in the face of unspeakable loss.
Why I can't wait
I just read If I Stay and Where She Went by Gayle Forman and I loved those books. So that's reason number one. Reason number two is that I read an excerpt of the book and I liked it, a lot. And reason number three is that I want to find out the secrets Meg had for her best friend and if this mysterious guy Ben had something to do with her dead.
Expected publication date: January 27th 2015
What are you waiting for?
This doesn't really look like my thing, but I really hope you enjoy it! I don't normally read contemporary novels - I prefer an escape! Thanks for sharing :)
