Review: On The Fence by Kasie West

After reading The Distance Between Us a month ago I immediately wanted to read On the Fence. Kasie West her writing style is just amazing. And she wrote some wonderful characters that I couldn’t get enough of. So as soon as I got the chance I bought a copy of On the Fence.

Charlie is a great character. She’s fun and easy to relate to. I didn’t have as much in common in her as with Caymen of The Distance Between Us but I still loved her a lot. She’s not a typical teenage girl, she loves sports a lot. Soccer, basketball, football she can do it all. Girly things on the other end… well she’s not so good in that department. It was fun to see her struggle to those phases in her life where she was trying to figure out if clothes, makeup and other girly things could be a part of her life as well. I also loved that she had such a good relationship with all of her brothers. They supported her in everything, were a bit overprotective at times (as they should be!) and were a lot of fun to be around. I couldn’t but help to love Charlie’s entire family.

Braden was a perfect guy next door. Kasie West can create some awesome love interests. First Xander and now Braden. Seriously I don’t know where she finds them. Braden is a sweet guy and he’s funny and smart to top it all off. Yep perfect boyfriend material.

The romance in this book was less present than it was in The Distance Between Us. I missed the build-up to it all. That was really my only disappointment in this book. But Charlie and Braden already knew each other for a really long time. So I understand that there feelings for each other developed different. They were friends first so it takes some time before one might realize that friendship is changing into something else. After a while it became clear that there was a lot of attraction between them but it took them so long to act upon it!

One of the things that I loved the most in this book was that it was set in the same area as The Distance Between Us. Some characters of the previous book popped up in this one and I was so happy to see them again.

This book was great. I had a big smile on my face the entire time that I was reading it. It just gave me so many happy feelings and that’s exactly what I need sometimes while reading a book. Yes there were some serious parts in this book but most of the time it was just a sweet read. Kasie West certainly made it to my auto-buy list now. And I can’t wait to read her next book The Fill-In Boyfriend.

Why I Can't Wait

So far I've only read one series by Libba Bray but I loved it so much. It is still one of my favorite series ever. And I'm planning on reading her other books as well. Besides this book sounds like a lot of fun.

Top Ten Tuesday #61: Ten Books I Will Probably Never Read

Fifty Shades Freed by E.L. James: I read the first two books and I didn't like them at all. I still don't know why I read them in the first place.

Delirium by Lauren Oliver: When this book first came out I was really excited to read it. But now after so many years it just doesn't interest me anymore.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith: I don't mind retellings of classics but adding zombies to them? No thank you!

The Millennium Trilogy by Stieg Larsson: I have this books in my possession for ages but they just don't spike my interest.

Anything by Dan Brown: It has just never crossed my mind to pick up a book by him.

Rapture by Lauren Kate: I liked the first book in the series but from there it went downhill really quick. I just can't bring myself to read the last book in the series.

Les Misérables by Victor Hugo: I always feel like I have to read a book in its original language (if I know that language) and my French isn't that good so this book would probably be torture for me.

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn: Everyone seems to like this book and I have to admit it sounds good. But something is holding me back to read it.

Anything by Nicholas Sparks: I love the movie adaptations of his books and most of his books are on my TBR but I have this feeling that I will never get around to reading them.

Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice: I used to love vampire and I would read any book I could find about vampires. So I think I just have an overdose of it now...

Fighting for Keeps is already the fifth book in A Brookhollow Story series by Jennifer Snow. Ever since I started reading this series I’m in love with the characters in the books and with the town itself. Every time I start a new book I am happy to see all the residents of Brookhollow again.

Lindsay has always been the carefree girl of the town. In her mid-thirties she still hasn’t settled down and gossiping is one of her favorite hobbies. But after a tragedy she’s left in charge to take care of five little children. Suddenly she has to change her lifestyle completely, just when she couldn’t deny her attraction to Noah any longer. But dating an MMA fighter isn’t exactly an option now she’s has to provide a stable life for five little children.

I really liked Lindsay. She’s such an amazing and strong character. Not a lot of people believed in her because she led her life differently than most people in Brookhollow. While a party girl she also truly cares about the people surrounding her. And she will do everything in her power to make sure that they are safe and sound. At the same time she also stayed true to her beliefs and values and I really admired her for that.
Noah is another amazing character. He’s very determined to get what he wants, a UFC career and Lindsay. But there is also another side to him, a softer side. It’s impossible not to like him when you read this book. I couldn’t have asked for a better hero.

Jennifer always has away to pull you into the story from the very beginning. And this book was an emotional ride. There was a certain part in this book that I was about to cry, I felt with the characters and it felt to me like I had a dear friend myself. In some way I might have since I knew these characters for so long. But there were also many times that I laughed and sighed because of the sweetness of this book.

Fighting for Keeps is my favorite book so far in this series. The romance between the characters was so believable and I loved how all the characters overcame their obstacles. While this book is a part of a series it can be perfectly be read a stand-alone. But if you really want to connect with all the residents of Brookhollow than I would recommend that you read the others books first. I can’t wait for another book in this series and I’m curious to see whose book it will be!

Sunday Post #20

This week flew by so fast. On Monday I had to say goodbye to a friend because she's going back home to Slovakia. I will really miss her but I'm sure that we'll see each other again someday. Then on Friday I didn't have to work since the office was closed because they had to do some work. And next Monday is a bank holiday so I've a really long weekend! Oh and I booked a trip to Scotland this week, I'm really looking forward to going there (thank you Outlander!).
