Band of the Month January: The Gospel Youth

Music has always been a huge part of my life. I love going to music concerts and to music festivals. My iPod is next to my ereader my best friend. I never go anywhere without my music. So I figured that it was about time that I introduced some music in my blog. From now on I will feature one of my favorite bands each month. Maybe you know them, maybe you don’t. Maybe you’ll like them, maybe you’ll hate them. But anyway I think that this is going to be lots of fun!

The Gospel Youth is a pop-rock band from Brighton, UK, that was formed in 2014 when they released the EP Kids. From that moment on they shared with some pretty good bands like Mallory Knox, Deaf Havana and Hands Like Houses. In 2016 they released 12 singles as part of their ‘Team TGY’ singles club. And I highly recommend that you go check out those singles because they are really good.  What I like so much about this band is that they put so many emotions in their songs, they are not afraid to tackle any topic. But the most exciting this is that they got signed to Velocity/Rise records at the end of 2016, and that record label is probably one of my favorites.

Amber Run is a British Indie Rock/Alternative Rock Band from Nottingham that was formed in 2012. Since then they have released one album and several EP's. At the moment they are probably one of my favorite Indie Bands, I used to listen a lot to Indie Rock but somehow I grew out of it. But to these guys I could listen for hours on end. Their lyrics are always so strong and the lead singer his voice goes perfectly with it. And what I love the most about them is that there video clips are always so interesting to watch as well. Especially "I Found" and "Pilot" which are released as a duology.

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor bring me the horizonBring Me The Horizon, or BMTH, is a rock band from Sheffield in the UK. The guys formed their band in 2004 and since then they haven been pouring out their souls in their music. Throughout the years their sound has changed a lot. Their firsts albums were leaning more towards deathcore while their last album can be described as alternative rock. It is probably one of the things that I love the most about this band. Their sound keeps changing every album, they never stand still and they are never afraid to try something new. And somehow the guys make it work every single time! Earlier this year they did a concert for Teenage Cancer Trust Fund with a live orchestra and choir. I went to the show and the evening was just magical. I have no words to describe it. But their music has such a great vibe and the lyrics are great as well. So for me this band has it all. Fun fact their name is from the final line of the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie, Captain Jack Sparrow then says "Now, bring me that horizon."

Band of the Month June: Christina Grimmie

Music has always been a huge part of my life. I love going to music concerts and to music festivals. My iPod is next to my ereader my best friend. I never go anywhere without my music. So I figured that it was about time that I introduced some music in my blog. From now on I will feature one of my favorite bands each month. Maybe you know them, maybe you don’t. Maybe you’ll like them, maybe you’ll hate them. But anyway I think that this is going to be lots of fun!

I think that most people have heard the news by now. Last weekend Christina Grimmie got shot after her concert in Orlando. I cannot believe with which tragedies Orlando has been struck these past days and all my love goes out to the people over there. I decided to dedicate this post this month to Christina Grimmie because she left this world to soon. I used to follow her on YouTube when she did her covers of famous songs and before she participated in the Voice USA. And while I had not listed to her a lot in the last couple of years the news of her death still shocked me. I hope that she will not be forgotten and that she will be an inspiration for many others to keep believing in your dreams because she was following hers.

Band of the Month July: The Maine

Music has always been a huge part of my life. I love going to music concerts and to music festivals. My iPod is next to my ereader my best friend. I never go anywhere without my music. So I figured that it was about time that I introduced some music in my blog. From now on I will feature one of my favorite bands each month. Maybe you know them, maybe you don’t. Maybe you’ll like them, maybe you’ll hate them. But anyway I think that this is going to be lots of fun!

The Maine is an American rock band from Arizona, that was formed in 2007. Its fifth studio album American Candy was released earlier this year. And it is amazing how far these guys have come if you compare all their albums. One of the things that I love the most about this band is their lyrics. They touch on so many subjects that should be addressed more in society. From feeling left out to messing your life up completely. This while their songs have catchy tunes. The Maine is definitely one of my favorite bands since years. And I hope that they will keep existing for many more years. Also they have just announced their Free For All Tour, so all their shows on this tour will be completely free! If you have the chance to go to one of their shows than you definitely should do it. You can check their website for more information.

Band of the Month June: PVRIS

Music has always been a huge part of my life. I love going to music concerts and to music festivals. My iPod is next to my ereader my best friend. I never go anywhere without my music. So I figured that it was about time that I introduced some music in my blog. From now on I will feature one of my favorite bands each month. Maybe you know them, maybe you don’t. Maybe you’ll like them, maybe you’ll hate them. But anyway I think that this is going to be lots of fun!

PVRIS, pronounced as Paris, is an American rock band. The band was formed in 2012 and consists of Lyndsey Gunnulfsen (vocals), Alex Babinski (lead guitar) and Brian MacDonald (bass guitar). There sound is a mix of alternative rock, experimental rock and electronic rock. It is really interesting to listen to their songs. Their songs hold so much meaning and even though I have listened to their album White Noise multiple times I still hear different things every time I listen to it. This band is still young and I truly believe that they can become a great band in the future. They have so much talent and potential so I cannot wait to see what the future brings for them.

Foxes, or Louisa Rose Allen, is an English singer-songwriter. She grew up in Southampton but is currently living in London. Foxes makes electronic pop/dance music and she might be best known for her collaboration with Zed. She even won a Grammy Award with the track Clarity in 2013. I like her as an artist because her voice is quiet unique and she addresses different topics in a catchy way. If you do not know her yet than you should definitely check her out.

Band of the Month April: The Civil Wars

Music has always been a huge part of my life. I love going to music concerts and to music festivals. My iPod is next to my ereader my best friend. I never go anywhere without my music. So I figured that it was about time that I introduced some music in my blog. From now on I will feature one of my favorite bands each month. Maybe you know them, maybe you don’t. Maybe you’ll like them, maybe you’ll hate them. But anyway I think that this is going to be lots of fun!

The Civil Wars was a folk duo from Tennessee, formed of Joy Williams and John Paul White. They formed a band after meeting each other at a songwriting workshop in Nashville. They have two studio albums Barton Hallow and The Civil Wars. Their songs gave them several awards, including four Grammy Awards. What I loved the most about them was how the voices fitted together so perfectly, it was like they were made for each other. And the lyric of there songs held so much meaning. Sadly enough the duo broke up last year, but they are still continuing as solo artists.
You can find them on their websiteFacebook and Twitter

Now it’s your turn, listen to their songs and let me know what you think of them!

Band of the month March: You Me At Six

Music has always been a huge part of my life. I love going to music concerts and to music festivals. My iPod is next to my ereader my best friend. I never go anywhere without my music. So I figured that it was about time that I introduced some music in my blog. From now on I will feature one of my favorite bands each month. Maybe you know them, maybe you don’t. Maybe you’ll like them, maybe you’ll hate them. But anyway I think that this is going to be lots of fun!

Since this is the first time that I will post this feature on my blog I only think it’s logical that I start with my favorite band since years:

You Me At Six is a British rock band that was founded in 2004. The band consists of Josh Franceschi (lead vocals), Max Helyer (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Chris Miller (lead guitar), Matt Barnes (bass guitar) and Dan Flint (drums, percussion). At this point they’ve released four albums and they’ve won several Kerrang! Music Awards, including the one for Best British Band. One of the things I love the most about these guys is that they manage to have a different sound on every album but at the same time they still make the same music. Sounds confusing maybe, but well you’ll see what I mean when you listen to their songs.
You can find them on their websiteFacebook and Twitter

Now it’s your turn, listen to their songs and let me know what you think of them!

If you like it soft:

If you like it heavy:

If you like it in between

If you like rap:

That's it guys! Let me know what you think!
